Alan Rickman - Charity Professor for Saving Faces
Alan Rickman (aka Professor Snape, Hans Gruber, Sherrif of Nottingham etc) was a founding patron of Saving Faces. He was passionate about research to improve treatment for people with conditions affecting the most socially important part of our bodies, our face. He had the ambitious vision to fund a Professor who would achieve this by leading surgeons around the world with ground breaking research
Every year 1 million people in the UK are treated for facial disfigurement. The surgical charity, Saving Faces, has successfully treated thousands of patients, free of charge. The Alan Rickman Professor Charity is aiming to raise £5 million to fund research to enable Saving Faces to continue its wonderful work. You can support this charity by simply attending the event held at Worsley Road Sports and Social Club on Saturday 10th May, doors opening at 7pm. The evening features the fabulous “2 Sounds” duo, Hamper Raffle, Cash Bingo, Grand Prize Raffle and more – all designed to raise funds for Saving Faces.

“My association with Saving Faces started when my granddaughter, Bobbie, developed a growth on her nose a year after she was born. We were initially told that nothing could be done until she reached sixteen years of age. However, a friend told me she had read an article about Saving Faces and, after contacting them, they invited Bobbie to be assessed at a hospital in London. They offered free treatment which took place over time and they eventually removed the growth and strengthened the bone structure of her nose. Bobbie and the rest of the family were delighted with the eventual outcome and so grateful for the help given to us by Saving Faces. The surgeons, particularly Professor Iain Hutchinson and his staff, took a personal interest in Bobbie’s progress and their skills continue to provide life changing wonders for thousands of people, every year.”

Val has set an ambitious personal challenge to raise £1000 towards the charity by June 2025 – so far, she has raised approx. £700 – so our Charity Event on May 10th is the final push. Globally, Saving Faces is aiming to raise £5m to fund this post in perpetuity.
